So my Garmin suffered an unfortunate accident (blunt trauma ;)) and the screen is lit up but you can't see anything, rendering it useless. It also does not respond to its on/off button.

Anyone know if it would be worth having it repaired (as it seems to have suffered major damage) or would it be better to replace? It's a Nuvi 215 if that makes any difference.

I always lean towards replace. Thing is when you replace it you know exactly what your costs are - repairing it might just lead to further problems down the line.

No brainer! Replace . . . . you say the damage is quite major and with a repair ($$$$$$$$) you'll never have peace of mind.

Agreed, on an electronic item like this it will prob be best to replace, after the fix they screen they could come back and say the gps module is bust and also needs to be replaced etc.

On the same note I have fixed many items myself like when I dropped my HTC I thought i was going to have to bin it and buy a new phone but I opened it up an simply had to resolder 2 points and it was all good (screen wasn't working)

The word 'Garmin' just seems so much better to me ;)

get a new one, chances are it will come with more up to date maps

Yeh a lot of people are going the TomTom route.
