Repairing a corrupt Rar file

DO you have WinRAR? If the recovery record is set, then chance of full recovery using
WinRar is pretty good. WinRAR is trialware shareware but is fully functional without
registering.

Thanks Peter - problem it seems is there is one file in the series is missing, but the ones I have test OK... hmmm.... pity there is no way to rebuild that one file...

there is a way brad

did those files come with any PAR files? which series maybe you can pm the name and i can find the one for you

Nope - what it is:
It's a rar'ed ISO file which I want to recreate - corrupt or not - and in turn repair with ISOBuster. I want some of the files in the ISO but not all... I guess there's not too much hope, but I'll give it a go. My logic is that if I am missing one 100Mb RAR file out of 2Gb total, I should be able to recreate the 4Gb ISO file even if it is corrupt. I should then be able to get some of the files off the ISO... eish...
Found something on the news servers I'm gonna try...

without any par files there's no way to reconstruct the corrupt file. The parity data in the par files help reconstruct missing rar's. Without it im afraid your stuffed.

He can use one of these recovery apps, which just fill the missing data with
zeros and possibly recalculate the CRC checksums so that WinRAR
can extract whatever's there. Then he can salvage whatever he
needs off the disk.

He could also try something like BlindRead, maybe that can get a bit
more data off the corrupt CD.

I agree - am trying and will let yall know - thanks!

Ok - looks like it's sorted. I managed to rebuild it using a utility off the news server. I then mounted the ISO and got my files off so I'm HAPPY! Not all the files were recoverable but I got what I needed. :)
Thanks guys.
