Go idea? Bad idea?

I have 312k ADSL from Telkom at home. I'm considering replacing it with Neotel. The usage will be 99% internet and 1% calls.
I've only read that neotel gives 157k speeds. Am I reading in the wrong place?

The coverage map on the Neotel site says I have 'Excellent Indoor' coverage for Internet but "No Coverage" for "Voice Services".
I'll need it to connect to 4 PC's using wifi.
I run a small business and need 24 hours internet access. So the plan is to cancel the ADSL stuff with Telkom and change to Neotel and over time start using the Neotel number as the primary business number.

Your views?

I would say get it, but don't cancel your ADSL just yet. As soon as you are happy with the service levels, then only cancel you ADSL.

Maybe scale down on your ADSL cap and try to use your Neotel connection as the primary connection and the ADSL only as backup.

Because this is not for personal use and for business, I won't make an immediate switch over 'cause it could cost you dearly if you run into problems on the new connection.

If you can't afford both...flip a coin...Neotel is going to save you money!

Don't those NeoConnect phones drop the internet if someone phones you on them? Thats something you would have to take into consideration.

Dude, dont make the same mistake I did, if your ADSL is working fine, dont change it, trust me on this, you will be sorry.

If telkom works it works and its stable, ive logged like one call with Telkom since I had ADSL for a couple years. I have logged like 200 calls with neotel and still nothing has been done.

Neotel has a 48hr response time (So they say), I been waiting for 6months bru.

I've been without ADSL for 12 days now...

Last update from Telkom is "It has been assigned to a tech and it might still be awhile" That's they exact words...I'm not interested in Telkom anymore.

I'm prolly moving to Neotel sometime this month.

Neotel is quite funny. It either works or it doesn't. Usually you will hit 200kb/s and over, so if its just for browsing, then its fine. If you get a neoconnect phone, just tune them you want an antenna too, then they HAVE to give you one.

And yes, it does drop internet during calls. Just use a download manager. Its not fun when it does drop your con, but its easy to work around.

Then again, if your lucjy like ushir, you'll get a permanent 1.8meg line for 1/3 of telkom.

Worth the try IMO, that is for only basic browser use. Massive dl spamming of over 100gigs a month isn't too easy to get on a 200kb/s connection, but, as I said, if your lucky you can expect 200+ gigs a month :D

Most advice so far has been to approach with caution. I think I'm going to just leave it as is on Telkom. Thanks folks.

LOL,

I been tuning that to them since i got Neotel Prime Unlimited 6months ago, still waiting, paying R1000pm for 40kbit line, propper dial up 56k is faster.

They just dont wanna do anything about it, my account still get debited, for literally no connectivity.

they so contradictive, "NeoConnect Prime Unlimited" which is more limited than 56k dial up, oh and there services/support is less limited.

Tell them to F**K off, stop paying and contact a lawyer and/or ICASA.
I have had enough with Neotel abusing their customers. Telkom is a dream to work with compared to them.

BTW, STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY FROM NEOTEL!
