Hi all
So in the light of Microsoft killing off their Mail and Calendar apps, and wants you to use the new Outlook (which is just an app icon linked to their online version essentially), what alternative apps are recommended for the likes of gmail and other mailboxes (my corporate email is on Office 365, but I kept my other email addresses nicely together in Mail, until yesterday)
TIA

Fortunately I have only been using the Online Outlike (browser) for the last couple of years. It lacked compared tot the normal Software but I knew they were going to kill it. I now mostly only use browser apps anyways.

To back up emails I use the good old fashioned Thunderbird.

Isn't that a mail account, or does it have a client as well for other mailboxes?

You would have to migrate yes. Most of the Google's and Microsoft's etc are preventing 3rd party apps as well so might as well go with someone who doesn't constantly mine your data.

Create a different profile in outlook then you can switch between the two on start up.

I forgot to mention that Thunderbird is available for Windows, MacOS X and most Linux distros. To migrate to a different OS, just copy the entire Thunderbird profile folder for your user to the new machine. Job done.

What's Microsoft Mail?

What's Microsoft Mail?
From Wikipedia:

Microsoft Mail (or MS Mail or MSM) was the name given to several early Microsoft e-mail products for local area networks, primarily two architectures: one for Macintosh networks, and one for PC architecture-based LANs.

All were eventually replaced by the Exchange and Outlook product lines.

Also from Wikipedia:

Mail (later Microsoft Outlook) was an email client developed by Microsoft and included in Windows Vista and later versions of Windows.[2][3] It is available as the successor to Outlook Express, which was either included with, or released for Internet Explorer 3.0 and later versions of Internet Explorer. It is set to be replaced by Outlook for Windows.
