I see the latest version of Nero 9 is just under 400MB!

Its completely crazy! Can anyone recommend a good replacement for Nero. I've heard ashampoo is supposed to be pretty good. Any recommendations?

Imgburn is also good depending on what you want to do. Really awesome little application.

It's no longer just a disc burning program, it's now a suite of programs that are mostly useless to me :p

Nero burning rom is still impressive, and that's all I usually use.

Don't know about #9 though, haven't used it yet.

There is of course a stripped-down version of Nero, called Nero Micro, at just a fraction of the bloated suite size and it gets back to the basics of what Nero used to be about: just compiling, burning or copying discs. I've been using Version 8 which does all I want in less than 25 MB - dunno if there's a version 9 though.

Nero Lite maybe? You still need a Nero registration number though.

No, the one I have is definitely called Nero Micro (ver. 8.3.2.1) which dates from March last year. The download or install file is just 21 MB but yes, certainly it needs a valid registration number -- it's not a freebie.

I'm also using the Nero 8 Micro version.

I have been trying a program called expressburn It is huge at 392 kilobytes.
Seems to do all the basics

I switched from Nero 8 Full (383MB) to Nero 8 Lite (35MB), and I'm happy - little system resources, basic burning with Nero Rom and Nero Express, no bloatware, and I use my serial! :D
