I have been a owner of a hard working MX1000 laser mouse for the past 3 (almost 4) years now. Unfortunately the batteries are giving way and I'm looking for a replacement, can anybody recommend a good cabled alternative?

I have been through so many Microsoft mice, I have 5 in my drawer. They used to make the greatest mice but in the last two years that simply is not so anymore. Their mice are plasticky, too lightweight and the laser editions are just far too sensitive for me, maybe for gamers etc they are cool but I do a lot of graphics works and Microsoft's mice actually stress me out and no matter how I fine tune them they are just not as good as they used to be 3-4 years back. I still have a 5 years old Intellimouse Explorer (one of the first MS made) which works great, their new ones do not come close.

I eventually bought a Logitech LX7 Cordless Optical Mouse which is a very comfortable feeling mouse, just the right weight ie. not too light not too heavy. It has excellent signal strength and battery life, still on the same batteries now after 8 months and the Logitech application still says my batteries are good ... and they are. For me it is a great all round mouse.

If you liked the MX1000, the MX Revolution is much better. I love mine...
