I just bought a second hand laptop from cash converters which came with Windows XP and an XP disk.

On the back is a Windows Vista sticker with a product code licensing the machine for use with Vista Business.

The Vista installation disk was not included with the laptop and I am wondering if it is possible to get a replacement or do I need to buy Vista if I want to reinstall it in the machine?

It is a very cool laptop (HP 8710w with 4GB Ram) which I got (after some negotiation) for R7000. I am thinking of running Vista Business 64 on it.

Check if you don't maybe have a 10GB recovery partition on your laptop? Otherwise:
Go to Incredible Corruption and ask them to get you recovery disks for your laptop. You will need to give them your serial number and maybe show them your laptop. They should be able to help you.

I had a similar issue. I phoned HP support (Joburg) and since the notebook is under warranty they order me a new oem recovery disk. It does take a while though. (If I remember correctly it was about 6 weeks)

You might have a problem though with the 64 bit version. AFAIK the HPs only shipped with the 32 bit version.

Thanks, will give them a call on Monday and see what happens.

I waited 4 weeks for my disks.... and HP support is slow, that's all.
