How hard is it to install and does it cost a lot. I want to get a better sounding hooter, something with a little more bass, or a dual-tone.

If I may be so bold as to quote you, Mr. Morality:
WOW, you are such a classy person, I'm sure you are so proud of yourself ........

Oh, and fdaniels, hooters are cheap as chips. Pop past a MIDAS & pick up a kit that's suitable for your car - should be R250ish at the absolute most.

Wow awesome. I was wondering where to buy them too! :D

PS: Oops, in the first post I meant to ask how hard it is to install.

First thing I do when I buy a car is fit an extra hooter to get a twin tone. Our local spares shop sells the hooter for R35 and the electrical guy fits it for R30...easy peasy! :D

The kits would have simple instructions included. If you're not a mug with a screwdriver, you'll be able to figure it out. Might be a good idea to just have a look at where your current hooter is mounted, and how much space you'll have to play with. Once my car's goes, Imagetting me one of these:

Just to add, that the MIDAS guys will try and sell you a kit for a couple of hundred rand, and it's really not worth it. The hooter on your car is probably a High tone. You can then just buy a low town and add it or if you like to be heard...like I do...:D buy another high tone...sounds brilliant! :D

Hehe, forgive and forget, not your strong point..lol......but there is a difference, and you will most likely disagree, between posting a pic of hooters girls in a hooters fred, and making lewd remarks in a thread where someone talks about his spiritual beliefs. Class my friend, class, not morality.

No, not my strong point. Coupled with an uncanny ability to remember moderately to utterly useless bits, and it makes for a rather vengeful streak.
Either way, Mr. Classy then, your characterisation is built on the false assumption that 'spiritual beliefs' deserve any more or less respect than 'hooters'. ;) Oh, and things in the PD section specifically aren't taken tremendously seriously. Your snarky remark wasn't in the 'spirit' of the place, if you know what I'm saying.

Anyhoot... /off-topic diversion.

Subject is hooters; carry on...

Seen as though I was beaten with the http://www.hooters.com/ :) how about one that's fitted to a long haul truck? I have always wanted to fit a ships fog horn as a hooter in my car, especially for taxi's :)

Depending on the age of the car (and wiring) and the size of the hooter you are adding (hooters draw a fairly large amount of power) you might want to consider powering it directly from the battery via a relay switch. The original wiring from the steering wheel is then used to drive the relay and not the hooter. I added one of those airhorn type hooters directly to the existing wiring and it sounded pathetic, rewired it with a relay from the battery and I was in business.
