Ok i got the drive out and reading it as an external drive on my pc.If you not familiar with my problem check this link

Non of the solutions helped not even the live cd as the screen wont come on.
I am busy with brute forcing the vista profile sam files. Its gonna take 1 day and 11 hours to crack the password, time i do not have;)

What can i do now.I tried creating a user profile on the drive via copy and pasting but its still only showing the password protected profile, and he ones i created is not showing hen i replace the hdd in the laptop.

I don't know what else to do to log into this pc .I even tried the hdmi cable to the tv ..still the screen only pops up at login screen.

Any suggestions.

have you tried backing up the files/data via a non-windows interface*? Reload & put back data.

I can't follow your link (on cell)

have you tried going in via safemode (F8 while in DOS screen still)

if it's a BIOS password then you'll have to pay someone to remove it (have done that before)

edit: * this is made easier for me as i have a few cables that allow me to connect the various HDDs to a normal PC(so the 2.5'' HDD would be directly linked to my backup PCs mainboard). Couple that with a special program imported from the US(at a fair cost) & i never struggle with that. My only wait would have been as long as it takes the data to get backed up.

missed ''the screen won't come on''

have you tried plugging in a monitor?

Look on the F & number keys there's one (varies per laptop) that allows youto switch between laptop screen & added screen)

I have tried all the solutions from forumites.....even the live cd wont work. Also i am having a hard time guessing what the screen is doing when using f buttons.I am trying to go by memory and nothing is working.

I dont need the information on drive but i do need the nvidia drivers to stay put cause this is crucial to the second screen.
I could format the drive but this will delete the nvidia drivers and i will be stuck with no visual at all.

This is a real pain.If there is someone with a hp dv3000 series please take a video of the boot screen and booting from usb drive or cd.With this i can time the esc button and f9 button and see how many down presses i should make.

This thing just wont boot the secondary screen no matter what i try.

If you check the link i have tried all that already.
as i said : i can't as i'm posting from my cell.

looks like it would be easiest to link the drive to another PC as a slave drive (i have cable that allow me to do that). then get what you want.

drivers for that laptop are available from HP's site.

have you considered changing the lcd screen?
You say the information on the HDD are not important.
Also you don't want to lose the laptop's nvidia driver.

Why then are you trying to get into the laptop? It seems as though the unit is diposable as far as use is concerned.

ok i need to get into the profile cause i need to set the nvidia graphic options to dual view or clone, then i can do all the changes before replacing the cracked lcd screen.I need to make sure the laptop is not damaged in any other way before i proceed with repair and quote.
this is why i dont want to format in fear that i wont get a working screen.btw i do have all the drivers stored on my pc in case of emergency.
If windows 7 installs from dvd, do you think it will show up on the second monitor..we cant be sure about this, either way its gonna be a blast trying to install a os blindly pressing tab :D

what / how was the LCD broken?

Then people can advise you as to how good / bad your chances are of the rest working. IE will it be worth your while paying R1k+ (depends on where/who changes it & the cost of the screen)

this simple programfixed everything. All i did was boot from another windows and loaded this program. Then navigate to the windows folder sam files, changed password ...save and that was all she wrote.

WE as humans surely complicate things,i can believe it was so simple. And here i was using brute force hacking for 19 hours..fkin waste i tell you.
