Hey guys,
So I'm sure most of us have heard of the tor network. Well for those who dont here is an extract from their website :

"The Tor software protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location, and it lets you access sites which are blocked."

A few hours ago I downloaded and played around with the browser a few google searches led me to a site known as The Hidden Wiki. The wiki literally had sites which were "hidden/private/masked" that allowed one to buy illegal substances, view porn etc.. but the thing that made me sick was that there was a section for child pornography. Within that lied numerous(I'm not joking) links to pages where pedophiles could chat, upload/view images , watch child pornography. They still had the audacity to categorize the links as "non-nude, nude. hardcore" .

I then googled ways to report these types of sites, I came across a site called CyberTipline http://www.missingkids.com/cybertipline/ . When I was filing the report they did not allow me to enter the sites that ended in .onion in the URL box so in the description I listed some of the sites. Does anyone know a better place to report sites that end in .onion?

To anyone out there who has some insight on this growing problem on the law enforcement side what is the next step once we file our reports? Do they investigate? Whats is the possibility of them actually bringing the site down?

I hope that all of you will try and report some of these sites to hopefully make a difference.

Thank you,

PS Sorry for the typos I had to get this out of the way as it was bothering me and i couldnt get to sleep and sorry if this is in the wrong section

You're wasting your time reporting anything on the tor network.

While I'm disgusted by child pornography, it is the Tor network. It's meant to be the open net, and not enforce any rules on what is permitted(not that they can).

It's what happens when you shove governing bodies out of society.

I have seen some people on http://anonnews.org/forum posting links to paedo sites which generally get taken down pretty quickly. I haven't seen any posts about the Tor network but if you read up they are actively going after them. Maybe post the links there and see what happens.

I got to say just looking at the heading of this post, makes me nauseous Dont even want to look at it., I get the same feeling when it involves a dead body in real life.

First thing I do on my clients Firewalls is setup an ACL blocking all TOR exit nodes. Tor doesn't bother me :D There isn't a huge amount of good that comes from Tor imo.

Unless you live in a country where the authorities monitor everything you do, and I don't just mean China. (NSA, anyone??). Depending on your level of paranoia Tor is useful. No idea what the ratio of legitimate users to scumbags is, though.

+1 'Swa'

That's why the 'tor' network (or dark web/deep web) exists. To hide anything people aren't allowed to see. The Feds (FBI) busted one of the leaders a while ago in anycase that was operating one of these hidden (.onion) sites inside the deep web. So you really don't need to try and do it yourself. Rather stay away from trying or you might find yourself in deep trouble for 'trying to do the good thing'.

Here's one of the articles on it:
Alleged Tor hidden service operator busted for child porn distribution

Tor is a direct result of government meddling.

Just like any tool it can be used for good or evil.

Great job getting this smut off the web though, also interesting to see that tor is not as anonymous as believed.

Law enforcement has their ways of infiltrating these rings themselves rather that trying to track anonymous communications. Most CP isn't traded on websites anyways but between individuals.
