I've been using Crystal Reports for a long time but I wanna look into some other options. I would like to hear from you guys what you have used.

Thanks!

SSRS is k*k ... I would stick with Crystal. SSRS can do alotta things but my limited experience with it has been a nightmare. It is not easy to learn and even though it can do a lot, lots of things are not easy to figure out.

Also lots of limitations e.g. it cant do rounded corners.

I would suggest you chat to an expert about SSRS together with trying it yourself.

PS: SSDT is great but that a different kettle of fish

Good luck.

Found SSRS alot easier to use compared to Crystal funny enough.
Maybe look into QlikView? Seen a couple job posts for people with experience in it so think it's gaining traction :\

Why are you looking at other options?

Don't be intimidated by SSRS.

Thanks. Will look into that.

I just wanna see what else is out there and how it compares to Crystal Reports. Quite bored of CR by now.

I somehow remember DevExpress also having some decent reporting tools... Although that could just be for Lightswitch.

Maybe worth looking at anyway. Otherwise SSRS should also be good. It was always shot down at my old job when I wanted to look into it, but the bits and pieces I have seen are quite nice.

Reporting is boring no matter what tool you use :D

lol agree 100% with this....

I've used the DevExpress reporting package and liked it. I used Crystal years ago, and unless it has improved, I would rather go homeless than use it again :(

Played around with QlikView yesterday and it was interesting to say the least.
I prefer SSRS personally.

Crystal was the first reporting tool that someone tried to teach me to use. Think I got about 2months in before using words once spoken by a wise little boy, "Screw you guys, I'm going home".
