Guys, there is a lot of info on MyBB, but one thing is short. Can you please create the following item and update it weekly?

A table showing where you can get the cheapest uncapped, unshaped connection. Break it down in 2, 4, 10 meg and superfast showing the service provider and their price.

Afterall, I think this is what most people are after on this forum, getting the best deal for the best price and since providers come out with new deals almost weekly, I request that it gets updated weekly.

Several articles already on MyBB... just search.

Na not me but if MyBB let's the ISP's know about this, the ISP's should submit their pricing as part of their marketing afterall, there is one heng of a lot of guys that read MyBB daily and if people know that they can come here to find the latest and greates pricing in a jiffy, surely they would want to "advertise" on MyBB.

(standard disclaimers apply)

The information dates quite quickly and it is fundamentally difficult to do a perfect or proper comparison particularly on the "unshaped" qualifier.

You're just asking to be spoonfed, the results will represent nothing more than the ebb and flow of ISP support. ISP releases new cheap service, users rejoice and flock towards new service, new service cannot maintain initial upsurge, users rant, new service becomes pariah, ISP rethinks product strategy.

Okay, okay. Let me rephrase my question. I have spend 5 days reading this and that article on MyBB and still can't figure out what is the most reliable, fastest uncapped service I can get in my area. Fiber no go. Bitco, no go. ADSL seems to be the one but through what ISP? Someguys say Mweb. Some say Afrihost. Some say ..... It's like a bottomless pit.

Area: Durbanville, Cape Town

When it comes to ISP's folks tend to get emotive and each person will post their own reasons for selecting A over B/C/D, etc.

And their various could all be valid.

The cheapest uncapped ISP product could be 100% fine for a user wanting to browse aplenty and download a few items in the twilight hours. But it would probably not suit the gamer or heavy downloaders.

The best method is to start a thread, detailing your usage requirements and then sitting back to watch the debate!

Well, for starters, with all this talk about video streaming, what is the best for that? I assume if you can video stream then the speed should be good and it should be uncapped.

That is a very tricky one... IMHO I would go for a capped account or a uncapped business account. Alternatively you'll have to search for an ISP that does not throttle or shape those protocols in the 17h00-00h00 slot.

This is bound to change in the near future when the network operators get involved with video streaming.

Can we have an update on the VDSL rollout? Last update was in June.

I found that capped accounts are better for streaming.

You will have to figure out what works best for you, and how much you need.

I am quite happy with 150GB capped Afrihost, that is a lot of streaming. Obviously I don't download video as well.

And you can still fit in your normal software downloads, etc.

AH works well for me, but I have seen others complain, so you will just have to test it for yourself.

I have 20Mbps VDSL, but you may be able to get by with a slower speed.

I have no need for a faster speed, so will pass on 40Mbps or FTTH.
