What does this mean? I get this lately when i browse and open new windows, etc. It appears infront of the URL.

PearlJam, what I can find from googling is that it is related to keyloggers, spyware and or virusses/trojans. Scan your system for spyware and virusses with your preffered app, I would recommend ZoneAlarm Security Suite, since it has an antivirus and spyware scanner, do a full scan, you can also use Adaware free and AVG free if you'd like.

Funny thing is this error PearlJam is getting seems to be around since IE5 beta, so it's definitely crap that they never fixed it.

I ran spybot and adaware. It picked up stuff but i still seem to get the error although not that often anymore.

Its a DNS Problem caused possibly by virus/spyware etc etc.

- check your DNS Servers by running nslookup , ping hostname , use dig (ie samspade)

- look at your "hosts" file.Trojans/spyware etc normally put rogue/junk entries in that file.

By default when you query a hostname the "hosts" file is always queried first then the DNS Servers

OK, i am not too clued up with this, but i ran nslookup and it said it can't find a name for the server. But mostly i don't know 80% of the stuff you said. Maybe if you can break it down a bit for a noob

Hey PJ, I reminded myself to tell you, but I forgot, after you fixed the spyware and virusses, download this utility http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html and fix your hosts file and reg keys after clicking fix, reboot the system, if you don't have anymore spyware on the system, it should be sorted.
