Resident could only listen as mob burned man - <-- how can man do this?

A Brazaville resident listened helplessly to the terrified screams of his Zimbabwean neighbour as a mob beat and burnt him to death.

Chamunorna Kufondada, 38, fought hard to fend off his attackers but eventually succumbed to their numbers and was forced into his dwelling, which was then set ablaze.

This brutal murder comes in the wave of xenophobic violence that has plagued the township west of Pretoria for a week.

Another charred body, believed to be of a South African, was found a few hundred metres away.

The details of the attack emerged when Minister of Home Affairs Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and Tshwane executive mayor Dr Gwen Ramokgopa visited the area after attending a meeting to address the issue at the Atteridgeville police station.

Kufondada's younger brother, Clever, broke down as he asked for answers.

"Why did they do this to him?" he asked

"He has only been in South Africa for two weeks, he has done nothing wrong to anyone."

Clever said his brother had been in South Africa legally for the past three years and invited Kufondada here because there were no opportunities back home in Zimbabwe.

Mpho Mudau said he woke up at about 11pm when he heard Kufondada's screams and saw a fire from his window in a neighbouring shack.

"I don't feel good. I was in my house and could hear his screams, but I couldn't help him because they would attack me too," Mudau said.

"The group was attacking foreigners because they said that they take our jobs.

"They don't want them here because they say that they commit crime," he said.

Mudau said when the group left he heard women screaming. In the morning he found his friend's burnt body.

Kufondada's burnt body was found in the doorway of his shack, indicating, according to police on the scene, that he had tried to get out.

Mapisa-Nqakula said South Africans needed to engage with their foreign counterparts and understand that they had to live with one another.

Absolutely sickening...

I blame mostly the incompetent ANC government - all promises of jobs and houses and no delivery - just politicians pocketing our tax money... And of course 'ol Bob riding his country into the ground forcing people here...

Every day, try and explain to one ANC supporter, why the people they voted for a crooks and show them an alternative.

Silent diplomacy from the anc.
We do not have enough jobs for South Africans. In the mean time all Africans are more than welcome to stream into the country.

They have to eat.

They take the jobs off South Africans at halve price.
Or they steal.

The domestics is getting the moer in.

Go anc. Feed the foreigners. Viva.

I feel for the Zimbabweans, they work a lot harder than the local South African's, and usually get paid a lot less. They're also a hell of a lot more friendly.

They are more trustworthy. They have bear no ill toward white south africans. Unlike the locals who will never forget apartheid.

Had a Zim work for us, the nicest guy. Died of aids. :(

Had 2 South Africans work for us, burgled both times.

This is becoming very prevelant now, I often see our locals giving the forigners a hard time.

So much for Ubuntu

Anyone else seeing the irony here?

I worked with a Zimbabwean guy - Thulani at a computer company - he is a printer tech.Awesome guy,

I certainly hope those responsible dont ever have a good nights sleep ever again. I hope his screams haunt them till their deaths..

To them its not crime, its justice.

i blame this on government for not getting our army to go and retake Zimbabwe and return the white farmers so the country get back to its former glory

Will somebody please tell me what the old "group areas act" was all about?

Who instituted it? Who abolished it?

Who is applying it now without the benefit of a court or prison. Execute them summarily?:(

I somehow think its more South Africans who do that...

I doubt that, but it's prob. not uncommen. All the people arrested for farm killings = Zim or Moz. All people caught for robbery with torture in it = ZIM or Moz. The locals steal and do house breaking, but I can not believe they are doing the above.

Can you back that up? Because as far as I am aware, the farm killings are South Africans, wanting revenge for what happened to them, etc...
