Resident Evil 2 / Biohazard RE:2

Played a bit on Saturday, my first time playing it (i didnt play the original). I lasted until the police station and then took a break. Its quite challenging, i dont know why but i expected the zombies to go down after one headshot.

This obviously is not the case, the first zombie at the beginning of the game (inside the shop) i shot in the head a few time and he went down.... i go to appreciate my handwork and the fcker grabs me! scared the cr@p outta me!

my first resident evil game was resi 4 on the wii and iirc the zombies went down after one or two headshots, these ones in resi 2 are bullet proof. Anyway its quite enjoyable (especially finding the emblems for the statues etc).

Good news is you do not have to kill each and every zombie as some you can run around or exit another route while they hang around the door you initially entered. However I get the headshot thing, those zombies has uber heads ;)

Maybe this is the RE I get good at. haha

The last resident evil I attempted was RE1 HD. Can't say it ranked high on my list of to finish or try again. Might do so after I've checked out RE4.

Yoh, haven't played a Resident Evil game since my PS1 days in London 20yrs ago

i absolutely loved resi 4 on the wii. think i played it like 4 to 5 times over and then again once i got the rocket launcher at the end of the final boss :D

Such a good game and worth a pick up.

Just one thing that is bothering me is the graphics feels odd and there is something missing. The character models looks fantastic just the environment looks odd? I checked many times, everything is max out but it look like the environment is on medium settings and characters on ultra. But that is just my opinion.

It seems a bit dof to me at times like there is too much brightness? I've done the max and min brightness setup, and then left it as it is. Otherwise I'm really enjoying it.

On my third playthrough with Leon B. Damn scary at times man!

RE2 was the first game I ever played on my PS1 way back.

Are you playing with TXAA+FXAA ? I can almost guarantee that you are. RE7 and now RE2 are pretty notorious for having the worst anti aliasing options around. All it does it blur everything and take away detail. You can play on max but this setting alone will make it look like low texture settings. Best solution is to switch to SMAA which results in a very sharp image with the downsides of still having some jaggies, weird looking hair and some shimmering on certain surfaces. But even with these downsides it's still way better than the alternative.

Also, try turning off Chromatic Aberration (basically this simulates a bad camera lens) which also affects the look of the game. Bonus settings to turn off are: Motion blur, vignetting, film grain.

Oh yeah. I've played and finished all the mainline RE games except for RE7, and this RE2 remake is easily one of the best, right up there with 2002's REmake and RE4.

Somehow RE2 (original) and RE4 were the best in the series for me, RE3 was irritating at points but ok, RE5 was ok, RE1 was purely annoying, CVX was almost good, RE0 was terrible, RE6 was terrible, everything since was either too unbalanced or too focused on horror.... I never played the games for horror though so I'm biased.... never understood how anything in RE2 (original) could actually scare anyone . Never bothered with the rail shooters.

Ressurection warning.

This game is great. Fully enjoying it, but which resident after this one? I have all of them on steam, and played a little of RE0/RE1 remastered.

I was thinking of diving into 7

Might do Re3 when it goes on an actual sale :sneaky:

I finally finished my initial playthrough and it was great and well worth it. Any decent youtubes for some lore/story?

After some title rotation RE7 is next
