At my company, we get paid according to the number of hours worked in the billing period.. In most cases, the billing period consists of 4 weeks, some cases 5 weeks.

I resigned last month, and my final day is on the 8th August.

Our billing peroid for July was:

1. 21 June - 27 June
2. 28 June - 4 July
3. 5 July - 11 July
4. 12 July - 18 July

After July's billing peroid, I'm still working for 3 more weeks until the 8th.

So I asked the lady will they pay that 3weeks salary when I leave, and she said NO, only at the end of August...grin... :( But I want it now :(

Also remember they owe you your holiday paid out as well

BUT I think this is a good thing.

If they paid out your 3 weeks on top of the 4-5 weeks they owe you for July, you will be hit with one MENEER of a tax (because it would most probably push you up into the next tax bracket)

I paid almost 10k in tax like that when I resigned. If I waited I would've only paid 6k

rather take your leave... tax man kills you when they pay your leave out!

Acid, I pay almost R9k tax per month, tax would be close to R15k, f@ck.... :(

It's cool, they paid me for July, so I guess I just have to wait end of August for the rest to flow in.

Hopefully the people at my new job are generous, and give me full months pay, even if I start on the 11th August... most companies won't do this, but at my current employer they did :)

Why you resigning with a salary like that?

Goodness

If you really want to, you can force them to pay you on your last day. According to the labour law they must pay you all outstanding salary monies and accrued leaved on your last working day

Wtf? Are you like earning R30 000/40 000 a month or something?

You sound surprised. How old are you & how much are you guys earning?
I see kris860911 is probably 22.

Still R40k P/M is not a lot considering the current expensive things in SA.
I guess it depends what job and where you work.

A friend of mine I used to work with earns R48K P/M. I won't tell you how much I'm making though.
