Hi Botho
Thanks for the swift reply. So much appreciated given the run around we have had to date.
We will most definitely be lodging a formal complaint with your organisation as all reasonable avenues have been exhausted with the provider directly. Do I file this complaint with you?
Thanks once again for coming back to me so quickly.
Kind regards
Philippa Davis

Subject: Re: Formal Complaint against a Telecoms Provider

Hi Philippa Davis,

ICASA is the relevant institution to lodge a complaint against the telecommunications service provider. You are, however, advised to approach ICASA as a last resort after exhausting all internal avenues of the service provider concerned.
There is no documentation as to how to lodge a complaint, except for the Codes of Practices of the of Network Operators, which one would find from the Operators, upon request.

Thank you and Regards.

Dear ICASA
How does one go about lodging a formal complaint against a Telecoms
provider, and where can I find the relevant documentation and
legislation surrounding lodging such a complaint?
Thanks
Philippa Davis

Nice one Peapod.

I suspect that part of the license would be Service Level statements to which Telkom has to perform in general.

ICASA should be able to provide that if it exists.

Another question is if there is any stipulations regarding keeping up and providing latest techhnologies? It might just be that Telkom can claim that in terms of their license, ADSL is a favour.

I'd like to see this so-called 'code of practice' of the network provider - I've searched Telkoms site to no end and nadda, zip, zilch, jack, squat...... unless I missed something

he he he....... just doing some simple searches and what do you know, telkom's web-site isn't as secure as they thought it was [}:)] - must refrain !!!!

ICASA Seems to be just another cog in the machine to give you the impression of regulation and fairness but actually just provides a barrier for Telkom.

Does no one find this suspect

"There is no documentation as to how to lodge a complaint, except for the Codes of Practices of the of Network Operators, which one would find from the Operators, upon request."

Surely enforcing fairness is one of their primary functions.

So they are saying that they dont actually have codes and practices that should be adhered to but that the network operator set their own codes of conduct.

What is ICASA paid to do ????

ICASA is just another way to employ people that do nothing. Seems to me...
