Ok, the retirement fund I used to with from my company behalf. at this moment this is terminated and my HR recommend us to move to other Retirement Fund.

so the people from 10X www.10x.co.za attend at my work and present which I don't understand clearly. or dont have idea how it work.

Other one is discovery Retirement. https://www.discovery.co.za/portal/individual/invest-retirement

I've through and still not getting it. Some people here say I should join 10X other say discovery.

I dont know which one to pick.

Thought if you have experience either with 10x or Discovery. Please share, your opinion, what do you think.

PS: Sorry for my poor english skill. Hope you understand what I'm saying. Many Thank :)

Neither. Get an RA from Allan Gray

I'm with 10x, it's forced because of company policy. The growth over the last 7 years has been about 130%. Another factor to consider is that with 10x, we are charged half the admin fees that a private user would have been and if this is through your company, you might have the same benefit.

If you do not understand how it works then do no invest there EVER. This should be a rule for all your investments.

So ask questions till you understand it, if they get pissy with your questions then seek a different investment company.

Got an RA with Coronation, Allan Gray, 10x and Sygnia. They are performing best in that order.

You do realise very little people understand the details of their investments?

Anyhow. I am with 10x and not had any issues!

As with most investment products, the only real differences are the fees. Most fund managers lose to the market, so ideally find one based on inde trackers with low fees. In this country the best of the pack is sygnia's skeleton funds at 0.45% IIRC. a 2% fee over a 20 year period means you give half your money to the company, and only get to keep the other half: http://www.investorchallenge.co.za/those-fees-are-blatantly-robbing-you/

Take a look at what 10x, discovery and allan gray charge as fees, then check out sygnia. Note, I have no connection to sygnia, and I don't have an RA currently as I have a defined benefit plan through work. If I wanted one, I'd just go for the lowest cost fund.

Would you mind stating the underlying funds in your RA's for Coronation, Allan Gray and Sygnia?

I'm still shopping around.

I reckon it depends.. If you already have discovery perhaps have a small ra with them to leverage basket of service discounts(Discovery is all about cross selling, if you have multiple products the admin fees do drop down but even then it's not the least cost provider). Sygnia is the lowest cost, diy style ra and I think I will be switching ratio of funds to it in the near future.. I guess it depends on risk appetite. (Passive vs managed etc)

Btw a lot of people say Allan Gray has great performance etc but they also have performance costs.. so yah.

10x is great and Allan Gray? Really JStrike? Hopefully not in AG funds, the only AG fund in my AG RA is the AG bond fund...

10x is very simple in the High Equity Fund (aka the fund one is in before one reaches 5-years-to-retirement):

- 50% is in local equity in a Top 60 index fund where a single shares can only hold up to 6% weight (gets rebalanced twice a year to enforce that limit)
- 25% is in an overseas equity which I cant now recall details about.
- 15% I think is in local bonds
- 5% cash
- 5% property.

to throw another fund in the works here.. my company which previously never offered a retirement fund is starting us on the 1st of January on the Old Mutual Umbrella Fund. anyone got thoughts on that??

Generally just their balanced funds.
10x has their own allocation and I got the skeleton70 with Sygnia.

My 10x investment has had the worst performance of all my investments even taking the 1% less fees into account.
