So with the new ADSL pricing it got me thinking about our situation here in SA:

We have:
1) The highest Telephone / Cell phone costs in the world
2) We have an ever increasing Petrol cost bordering the most exspensive in the world.
3) We have the highest Bank charges in the world
4) We have a rediculous taxing system that rapes the only productive sector of the economy
5) Now, after being the most expensive internet country in the world and an investigation, they are RAISING the price?!?!

Can some one explain what good ICASA is???

Oh I am so happy I live here in the "crack" of the world, definately proudly South African!!!!!!!!

Does nobody else realize what expensive internet does to the economy of a countr? The more it costs a company, the more it effects their overheads, the higher their prices of whatever they do will be and ultimately the higher you and me will pay as consumers for their products or services. Thank you TELKOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sick of talking, might as well shove my head up a donkey's arse and talk because it doesnt seem to effect the powers that be in any way, as long as MP's can abuse our economy, be fraudulent and drive nice cars SA's real problems can come last.

Ok well on a serious note, we all feel the same way and we all realise the internet is traumatising SA growth. We still do keep on trying and trying and pushing and pushing, maybe oneday?

Not to critisese, but the info is a bit off

1) yes, that is in-desputeable, telkom is reaming us merrily and we are taking it with a smile.
2) Most expensive petrol - not Some european countries are already paying in excess R10 per liter

3) We are one of the ONLY countries *WITH* bank charges!!
4) Highest taxes, no we dont - BUT the Taxpayer get NOTHING for his taxes... the higer taxed countries have a Social System in place and look after their citizens.

Telecoms in SA is a complete RIPOFF! .. I still convinced that myADSL users should setting up a Wifi Grid and cutting telkom out of the picture. Get a partnership with a good backbone provider and then go ape.

Another point to ponder, the SA universities dont use Telkom for internet!!!! SA institutions dont even consider Telkom as a bandwidth provider! now that is sick!
