Has anyone tried returning their Cell C data bundles? I just got mine today (Claremont CPT).

I saw there's a 7-day policy but the guy mentioned handling fees. :wtf:

I actually want to UPGRADE from the 2GB to 5GB bundle. Not many better reasons to return something but I'm not sure the staff will feel the same way. Anyone tried this?

The handling fees on the 2Gb bundle:
data sim: R150
data bundle: R200
Why not keep the 2Gb as a data backup seeing that you have to pay 15% of the value back?

It is listed somewhere under their terms and conditions, I have read that, can't remember where.

IMHO it is fair, after all this is a product that can be used up (at least for the first month), and is spoiled by breaking the seals, etc.

Hmmm, where did you get that?
This is from a copy of the Return & Refund policy they gave me when I made my data bundle purchase.

For reference here are 5Gb handling fees:
data sim: R250
data bundle: R350
Ok, so basically: Handling Fee = 0.1*(Purchase Fee) + 50

Perhaps a bit of risk management and admin fees.

Haha! I'm considering selling it, with SIM and all minus one month data. I just get implicated if any crimes get committed with it. Small price to pay.

On further consideration I wonder if the handling fee might be a store-specific thing. @wndrbees you buy at Claremont also?

I will wait till the 1st to buy my 5GB SIM + 7.2mbps dongle. I am pinching pennies like a miser these days.

I also had the handling fee thing and almost had to use it :( thankfully they fixed the problem within 4 days and now I'm a happy cell c customer whos trying to help them to take over the world....

I bought a 5Gb/mnth bundle at Canal walk where they gave me a copy of the Return & Refund policy.
Upon subsequent overzealous data use I brought a 2Gb/mnth sim at Waterfront. They did not give me the policy there, however I don't believe the policy is store specific.

The return policy is about 5 days I think.

Had no signal in my area, so returned mine last week Sunday - they'll send it in to check for damage which is max 14 days wait time. Got a call this morning for my banking details.

So overall pretty simple process.

Cell C Data Promotion (return Policy): Handling Fees when 7 day cancellation.

Just to clear up the air:

They have a handling fee (seems fair seeing as how you open the packaging, get 5 GB free to try out and use up paid staff time, but thats my opinion) From my contract:

Cell C will impose a handling fee:
24 GB (2 GB x 12) data SIM - R150
24 GB data bundle - R200
60 GB (5GB x 12)data sim - R250
60 GB data bundle - R350
All prices incluide VAT. Also note it says 7 calendar days.

Note its 7 calender days not 7 working days.
Also don't know if they impose this as I don't know anyone who cancelled. However they probable do impose the handling fee. I never got to test the return policy as I am a happy customer.

Fair? Not in all cases..

Two trips to the store, 4 phonecalls, 3 emails to try get this device working and then having to return it..

If they charge me R350 for wasting my time, I'll be pretty pissed.

If its their fault (eg defective SIM or no coverage), I'm sure that they won't charge you.

If it's your fault they probably will.

I was charged R200 return fee for the 24GB package which I can understand.
The remaining refund took a while though, over 1 month.
