Telkom's September retires November
Jun 4, 2010 8:14 AM | By Reuters
Reuben September, the chief executive officer of Telkom who has been criticised for poor strategic leadership, will retire in November after only three years at the helm.
Telkom, Africa’s biggest fixed-line phone operator, said on Friday a successor to September will be announced in due course.
September, who has been with company for more than three decades, has provided the strategic leadership that led to the sale of Telkom’s 50% stake in Vodacom and launched the company’s mobile phone business this year.
Telkom has seen profits from its mainstay business declining after selling the Vodacom stake, its main earnings driver.
Analyst’s have labeled the company’s 6 billion rand plan to enter the saturated mobile phone market — dominated by MTN, Vodacom and Cell C — suicidal.
Retiring???? Nope, his contract was not extended.
Either way... he is outta there. Now maybe we can see some visionary leadership!
Not while government is the majority shareholder.
