Wrong link. Just read up that is for old in app purchases that were unauthorized because Google only fixed the play store last year November to always prompt you for your password before in app purchase.

No ways.

Checked settings page for Play Store and there's an option to set a password for purchases. By default it's off.

It was on never.
 
Strange. Just checked and the phone I bought this year the setting is on always. I only bought an app in the app store for the first time this year though so I assume because I am was new it got defaulted to that.

Reading up on in-app purchases you don't have any choice you have to contact the developer if you want a refund for an in-app purchase made after Nov 2014

Now you see; the the effort to type your password outweighs the effort to reverse transactions such as these. Therefor don't tick that ;)

I always leave it as "fill in your password > click ok" instead of having it on "once click".

Remember the play store setting is stored per your play store email account. If you had it on Never on a previous phone and used the same account it would remember it.
 
Pro-tip:

Don't give a child your phone to use when in-app purchases are enabled :p

More importantly remove CC info from any sites after use if possible. It's just waiting there for some hacker to hack their database and take you for a lot more than R500.

If you absolutely have to have the ability to buy something from the Playstore at any time then charge up with the Google Play vouchers we can get locally these days. They're available from Incredible Connection and some other stores. That way you're always at least limited to that balance.

It could have been a lot worse than R500, thank your lucky stars it wasn't 2K or more since there is no limit what that CC could have been used for on the store.
 
What were the add ons?
Extra birds?

I used to love Angry Birds :)
 
Google let's you refund through the play store (Web version) go to my account - go to a recent purchase - click on 3 dots and click on report error - choose reason and you should get a response in less than 5hrs
