Say I have a few cell numbers, how would I check online?

So you want to check who a number belongs to that is on your itemized bill? It is illegal for us to give out information like that. Only the police may request such info from the Service Providers.

Although this service would be super cool I can sort-of understand why it's not allowed. A direct marketer's dream!

I normally try to locate cell no. identity by typing the number in Google, in formats: 082-xxx-xxxx, 082-xxxxxxx, 082xxxxxxx and with 2782 formats (select search SA only, google.co.za and not google.com). I almost always get clues as to the ownership, especially if belongs to company or org or business person. Very often it links to gumtree ads placed by the owner, giving enough details to identify. Other times it links to online directories of some sort - also good.
