Most middle to high end hatches have review cameras has an option, I've seen it in a 4x4, seems to work well but I question the use in a smaller car, anyone here currently has this option or have seen this first hand on a smaller car, is it worthwhile? Or is this just a "show off" gimmick

Depends how crap the design of the rear is, I see the new Hyundai velostar has a rear view camera. Otherwise it's hardly necessary.
It works well on sportscars, large sedans and cars with high ground clearance.

I also saw one in a mercedes in the movie jack reacher, looked cool , and yes Quantum I can park,I was just inquiring from the fellow users what their experience is , no need for sarcasm.

I prefer to review cameras in the comfort of my home or even a nice gradsy park, but certainly not in a hatchback.

:D

Review? No no no. R e a r v i e w. Rearview.

It works like a charm btw.

My question was serious... If you can indeed park, then there is absolutely no reason why you should need a rear view camera.

Indeed, I have found a gradsy park the best for camera reviews, except when photographing lions, then a hatchback is not such a bad option! But not elephants, they squash hatchbacks! :D

I *can* clean my floor with a toothbrush, but I prefer to use a broom because its easier. Similarly he might want a rearview cam for convenience despite the fact that he could park without it.

Bad analogy... More like: I can prune my roses with some scissors, but I prefer to use a chainsaw.

It depends on the car some hatchbacks have tiny rear windows.

There are also the odd occurrences of people driving over kids/animals hiding or sleeping behind the car.
