Samsung / Apple UK judgment

On 9 July 2012 the High Court of Justice of England and Wales ruled that Samsung Electronic (UK) Limited’s Galaxy Tablet Computers, namely the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Tab 8.9 and Tab 7.7 do not infringe Apple’s Community registered design No. 0000181607-0001. A copy of the full judgment of
the High Court is available from www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/Patents/2012/1882.html.

That Judgment has effect throughout the European Union and was upheld by the Court of Appeal of England and Wales on 18 October 2012. A copy of the Court of Appeal’s judgment is available from www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWCA/Civ/2012/1339.html. There is no injunction in respect of the Community registered design in force anywhere in Europe.

I guess that this one complies with the judicial order !

Until the judge finds out they added code to ensure the footer is always cut off from the screen regardless of resolution. It just resizes everything until its cut off.

Did not notice that, will do a few tests.

Of course, something like that could lead to some jailtime !

Hell have no fury like a judge who feels conned.

I can see it just fine, what do you mean?

They added code on the site which means you will always need to scroll down to see it.

Looks OK on an Android tablet, maybe it is for the iSheep ? A bit embarrassing, what ?

I do wish that Samsung will now go after Apple for damages, a couple of good Samsung tablets failed in Europe due to this BS, a great example being the P6800 7.7" 3G.

Maybe 40% of the revenues on all iPads sold in Europe during 2011 and 2012, that would be a good start.

Actually its all browsers, default res and font size, the pictures will auto size to force you to scroll to see it, see picture explanation: http://i.imgur.com/KH555.jpg

The same Happens in
Firefox: US Site vs UK site
Safari: US Site vs UK site
iPad: US Site vs UK site

The guilty part is the code:
Code:
var HeroResize=AC.Class({initialize:function(b){this._ height=null;this._hero=$(b);
AC.Object.synthesize(this);this.__boundResizeHero= this.resizeHero.bindAsEventListener(this);
if(typeof window.ontouchstart===”undefined”){this.resizeHero ();Event.observe(window,”resize”,this.__boundResiz eHero)
}},setHeight:function(b){this._height=(b<0)?0:b;re turn this._height},resizeHero:function(){this.setHeight (parseInt(window.innerHeight||(window.document.doc umentElement.clientHeight||window.document.body.cl ientHeight),10)-310);
this.hero().style.height=this.height()+"px"}});Eve nt.onDOMReady(function(){var b=new HeroResize("billboard")
});

So yes you can see it but you have to scroll to get to it. Apple use to size the pages so you do not need to scroll for current screen sizes so you can say its deliberate move to "hide" the apology.
