How do I get the 98 Microsoft Force Feeedback 2 Joystick to work on XP.
I need i for flightsim x (I'm sick of the yoke)
I still think it's the best joystick. I have the power and USB cables but no software or drivers.
I tried google but there's so much info and confusion.
What do I do?
 
In general you can't. Usually the older models will work as a basic joystick, but that's no help if the goal is to use all the buttons and features. I had to throw out a really nice joystick because there were no drivers for it.

This is the ultimate joystick. I don't understand why there are no drivers.
I have the software from the link above but how does one get this stick to work in XP. There has to be a solution. I mean FFS they are still selling these things on amazon at over $100 used.
 
Ha. Who would have thought. The mistake I made was to assume that the stick was so obsolete that without drivers and software for a '98 stick to run on XP it wasn't going to happen unless I searched for a solution and google is riddled with tales of woe so before I just binned it, I plugged it in and miracle of miracles my new quad system recognized the controller and status OK and in Flight sim X all the buttons and functions and force feedback actually work.
Amazing. :)

Gotta love Micro$oft sometimes:) Try and upgrade your computer then go and root around in the bin before the Garbage Truck comes to collect it.
