Rewiring - where to get the wire?

Okay, so I could write a book on what a ball-ache trying to get telkom to come and rewire my line has been.
But as I've been trying to get them to do so for almost a year, I think it will be easier to simply do the wiring myself. I know how to do this but I need some help in buying the cable. The cable that I need to replace runs along the outside of my house, for roughly 20m. The old cable (it's really old) has many joins and is causing a significant loss in SNR margin, and thus ADSL stability.

Does anybody know where I can buy a good length of copper cable for this purpose? Tips on what sort of cable and where to try would be equally appreciated! (I live in Cape Town)

Two Core Surfix Cable from a hardware store or electrical supplier would do fine
No, it's best to use twisted pair wire such as cat5, as this is noise-suppressing unlike ordinary electrical cable... so when you use the cat5, make sure that each phone line utilises 1 of the 4 pairs, not just any wires. Intuitively, combining more cores should reduce attenuation, but this doesn't seem to be effective with adsl, only seems to add to the noise

just wondering, where does the law on this stand these days? sometime long ago they didn't want you to mess with even the in-door wiring. last i heard the area between the house, pole, and beyond is still pretty much their domain.
anyway as said, you want to use a twisted pair, it causes some magnetic field which helps move the electrons along i believe

From the pole (or underground DP) to the first indoor jack - do not touch.
