Three men accused of raping a woman and killing two men in Rhodes Park appeared briefly in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Thabo Nkala, Edmor Ndlovu and Mduduzi Mathibela were allegedly part of a gang of 12 men who attacked two couples walking in the park, in Kensington, on the evening of Saturday, October 17, last year.

Sizwe Tyeke, 33, and school teacher Zukisa Kela, 29, were assaulted, tied up, and thrown into the park's lake, where they drowned. One of their partners was raped. The second woman managed to run away.

Nkala stood in the dock, looking calm. He wore a black T-shirt. Ndlovu, wearing a dark-blue collared shirt, appeared uncomfortable and looked at the public gallery. He covered his face with his hands when he realised there were journalists in the room.

The court was told that the investigation, largely based on DNA evidence, had been completed, but that one or two statements were still outstanding.

The case was postponed to April 20. The three would remain in custody until then.

Hypothetical scenario, one of them decides to give up the other 9 (still at large) perpetrators, in exchange for amnesty (goes free)

Would you give him the deal or not?
