Ridiculous Vodacom 'Service"

Vodacom could have sorted you but the decided to play the "nobody's in the office" routine. A multi-billion rand company - there's always someone in the office.
Exactly, and I don't see how accounts has to reactivate the service - that sounds like bull to me. They admitted to stuffing up, therefore it's no longer an accounts problem but a technical issue - just a matter of reactivating it.

I would be having freaking fits at them by now. It's bloody rediculous, it's really as simple as oh damn, our mistake...click click - your lines are now all back on. We are so sorry for the inconvinience caused, and to appologise have added 20 free minutes and 20 free sms's to all the accounts. (It doesn't cost them anything anyways).

That would be nice, but sadly lower level agents do not have the authority to give anything away. It's part of the problem IMO, but I imagine if they did, they would be sorting out their buddies with free SMSs and call credits!

Phones still not activated. I am awaiting a call from a manager person 'between 8 and 9'. I am not holding my breath ...

9 46. No call yet. What a suprise. Cannot get hold of anyone at customer care either. So now i am going to mission to Canal Walk and try to speak to someone there who might be able to help me.

Another day wasted.

Yeah - nobody in the office - honest.

Back from Canal Walk . Spoke to a supervisor there. She reckons she will activate the lines now(subject to the customary two hour wait). However, they are still waiting for a) this person to pay for the account so it does not show up in arrears and b) for the account to be removed from my invoice.

She said she would put a note stating that the line should remain active on the system, so that i would not have 'any more inconvenience'. Why do i think this wll not work?

How can I be at the mercy of this other person paying their bill or not?

Fed up i am.

This is such a sad state of affairs. You can't even call it service! Appaling it is.... :(
IMO logging complaints on HelloPeter does help. Thus far they have always come back to issues that were raised there.
No news from that avenue yet hj2k_x?

Well out lines are acitvated again. At last. But I am not sure how long this will last. The lady led me to believe that the deposit slip from the person whose account it is needs to reach them today still otherwise i will be cut off again because the account will stil show up in arrears... I shall call them later when i have a moment and get some clarification...

@lilDeath, still no word from hellopeter, no..

So, in other words, "we know it has nothing to do with you, but you'll be cut off (again) if they don't pay."

Disgusting.

Good luck

Well something similiar happened to me last year. Someone else's number was linked to my SIM. I got all his calls and SMS's. It seems the other guy then cancelled his contract and they deleted my SIM card. VC insisted that they couldn't "undelete" the SIM. I had to get a new one. I am on twin call so I had two useless SIM cards.

What really gets to me is that they had my home number, an alternate cell number and an e-mail address and not once did someone contact me to apologise or offer me assistance to get reconnected.

I'm currently experiencing other problems which weren't sorted out the first time I contacted 111 and today I am still waiting for their callback.

I am wondering if I shouldn't let me contract run out and then switch to pre paid. You can then at least minimize billing issues and switch to another SP if your current SP won't resolve your problems.

Just one of those days :D I'm not usually like this :o

Well the issue seems to have been sorted on my side. Spoke to a very helpful supervisor at Canal Walk Vodacare and she has taken the offending account of mine and insured that our lines were reactivated earlier today.

The whole thing was still a disgrace. An apology form Vodacom would not hurt , nor would some kind of compensation for the 28 hours of downtime that was not my fault. But what are the chances of either??
