So alot of you guys, I know, have been playing on the RIG MW2 server, and been having a great time. There is an awesome admin running the maintenance for that server by the name of Mezoli and he has been doing everything he can to keep it fun and fresh and as entertaining as he can for everybody.

Unfortunatly it has been decided that we can no longer keep it a semi public server. There is just not enough we can do about hackers and lamers if we dont have a ban system in place or some form of control. As such the MW2 server will become fully Private to RIG members.

What this means is that if you want to play on the server, it will be password protected and you will need to be a registered member of RIG to be able to play. Please note we are not trying to stop anyone from playing.. That is not the objective. We are striving to keep the quality and standard of the server as high as possible and the only way we can do that is with our in-house monitoring system.

Registering on RIG is free and there are no catches.. All you need is a valid email address and you can register. There are no further requirements to play on the MW2 server other than becoming a RIG member.

Please, if you have any questions PM me here, or if you have registered, my RIG name is Tw!tCh, or you can talk to mezoli also, as he is online there most of the time.

We hope you guys understand and are willing to play ball because we are really keen to keep this server up for a damn long time and we need your support.

Thank you and Kind Regards

Shebam/Tw!tCh

EDIT!!!!!!!!

Just an update.. There is no password requirement now so you can join the server but it will give you a warning message telling you to please register with RIG.. though it was a bit unfair giving people only like 2 days to see the message

There is no Anti-Hack ability on our server.. We rely on a user reporting system and then we investigate. We don't ban people unless there is absolute proof and we have had in the past to keen some pretty dodgy people because we couldn't find evidence beyond reasonable doubt.

The main reason the server is now private and you require a RIG login is to be able to ban hackers and the like if we need to. Yeah I know people don't like having to register to be able to play, but in all honesty, suck it up if you enjoy the game.

It's free, so you have no right to complain considering this server costs me upwards of a grand a month to maintain.

Have a look at UAC3 maybe?

Also, the "cheaters" can also register on RIG, so how is that going to stop them? ;)

It is password protected server, you get caught, you get banned and can't get new server password. We have become extremely good at catching people trying to come back. :)

If it was an open server it would simply be a matter of changing your name and connecting again. We have an active server manager integrated into RIG, so apart from being able to see who is online and playing what game and on what server, anyone playing without linking their game names in their RIG profile gets a warning message and then kicked by the server protection.

Thanks for the suggestion :-) I will have a look now.

Peace

EDIT: Ok just took a look at UAC3.. it looks awesome but the problem is people are very lame with regards to asking them to install something to monitor their games. We tried the same thing with Xray and it helped and some people adopted it, but we lost more players than we would have liked.

I hear what you say regarding UAC3, but the fact of the matter is, the guys not hacking/cheating, wouldn't mind running it... It's a small download and it doesn't really interfere with your connection or your pc, unless you have an old pc...

You are correct, the non-cheaters wont be worried using it. But from what I can tell its international. The other problem we had was half of our users were still on blended Telkom cap and so more often than not couldn't upload their data. It's better now with cheaper uncapped bla bla bla but people can be stingy. :p

I guess we could do a trial of sorts and see how it goes. Thanks again for the suggestion dude. :)

Also please, when you register with RIG, and log in for the first time, you need to edit your profile and enter your mw2 (and any other server) names to your profile. Its pretty strait forward. :-) thanks
