Rikus Matthÿser is the CEO at Link Africa.

Matthÿser joined the Department of Post and Telecommunications in 1985. During his initial tenure he developed a cordless keyboard for PC based training as part of his thesis and obtained a Masters Diploma in Technology from the Vaal Triangle Technicon with academic colours.

While working in the Technology Strategy section he implemented an ATM pilot project and compiled a Broadband Technology Strategy for Telkom. In 1995 he obtained a B.Com degree from UNISA and held the position of Internet Product Manager. Soon after this he launched the TelkomInternet access service and the South African Internet Xchange (SAIX).

Following this he moved to the Business Market Development section where he focussed on improving Telkom’s ability to serve corporate customers better. He developed Telkom’s Partner Program as part of this initiative, enhancing the collaboration between Telkom and major communications vendors in serving the South African business market.
Rikus was promoted to Executive: Telkom Business Integration Services (TBIS) during 2000. This group established Telkom’s presence as a major role player in the Information Technology environment.

It was at this time that he re-integrated Intekom, Telkom’s ISP subsidiary, back into Telkom and re-branded it as TelkomInternet, which today is one of the leading ISP’s in the South African market.

Rikus is a frequent public speaker focusing on strategic initiatives in the communications environment.
