RIM confident with BlackBerry 10

Should have really tried to launch before Christmas. Very few people are gonna buy in Jan, having spent most of their cash in December

Cell contracts is the way to obtain higher-end devices and the upgrade dates are spread all over the calender. With things like tablets Christmas is a big deal, but not so much for phones. New phone contracts or upgrades are not so closely tied to Christmas. I honestly believe RIM still do have fight left in them and that they still do stand a chance to regain market share. But they have this ONE chance to get it right (and they know it so therefore the many delays).
 
I like what I seen of BB10 but the truth is I see parallels to the Nokia N9 and meego and all RIM is about a whole range of N9s that nobody will really want.
Edit: If windows phone 8 is a hit it could be the final death blow to the blackberry
 
My upgrade is due in Feb 2013. I will be hard pressed to move off the blackberry platform, been on it since 2009. But that Galaxy note 2 is soooooooo frickin tempting.
 
As everyone else said in the other thread, a major issue is the slow BIS in this country.

You'd think RIM had some type of quality check in place actually.
 
Glad no-one is urging on the death of RIM yet in this thread.

I really don't see how having less competition in the smartphone market is beneficial to anyone, especially consumers.

I wish RIM all the best with BlackBerry 10 and hope it delivers.*

Agree Chris, I also hope RIM can get back on its legs and do well. I want that extra option. The more options the better.
 
So, been fishing around on the web, and seen a sneak-peak of a BB 10 device.....copy of an iPhone 4.... Wonder how long before we see another patent war......

All the vids of os10 that I have seen looks nothing like an I phone.
It doesnot have any icons like the I phone. Unless u counting the fact that itson a rectangular screen, and we all know that apple has the copyright on rectangles.

Unless u talking of the hardware, but the only fones running os10 is the dev aplha units and that is not the final design anyways.
 
somehow physics tend to prevail over innovation and 'best intention'. I think RIM's problems start with the nature of their phone network they using and top of their 'top notch security' . for an example you can imagine if you are using Opera browser or any third party app with its own servers to wittle down data that adds to the delay in relaying the finished product to the user. But I still believe they can come back.
 
I genuinely hope they will make a comeback. They must just get the quality of the new phone right. Many will return to BB's if RIM can get the quality of the hardware and software right. I'm one of them. My Bold 9000 was a great product. The rubbish started to roll in with the 8520. The company lost a lot of integrity since then. It can recover, but it has this one chance. I believe that is why they have delayed it so many times. Want to be 100% sure it is right.
 
I'm all for them succeeding but nothing I've seen of BB10 convinces me that they have a real shot at it. The 'features' are mostly disposable gimmicks, and they have made some spectacular blunders of judgement and incompetent engineering. Just tell me, who is actually excited about a real item in BB10?
 
I really hope RIM can turn the ship around, competition is crucial. For me, I'll never move to a platform again without an established app base. BB was absolute **** in this regard. Their new phones and OS can be brilliant, they will still need to sort their app store out. So they have three distinct challenges 1) hardware to compete with the likes of iPhone/Galaxy etc 2) OS and 3) app store.

Going to be a tough, but good luck RIM!
 
RIM has a huge mountain to climb, that is for sure. Would just be nice to have a "Come Back Kid" success story in the tech arena again (like Apple) and some real competition that blindsided everyone.
