IT technician Paul Wiggins is taking his tunes to the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown where he will share his anti- Telkom and Eskom sentiments in a one-man show called Un-metered Lives
Wiggins started writing anti-Telkom songs like Free Local Calls, I Think Telkom Sucks and Telkom Come Lately about nine years ago when he realised countries like New Zealand, Canada and the US did not pay for local calls
One song, Over the Wall, was penned when an incredulous Wiggins allegedly spotted a Telkom technician bolting over his wall and helping himself to the avos off his tree
He is convinced South Africa‘s economy would have “taken off like a rocket” if telecommunications in this country were more affordable
“I think at the moment a lot of people feel like they are in a huge hole financially with the world coming down on them, but they can save money by doing things smarter and better. People should be able to live un-metered lives, so that is what I called my show.”
