RIP Charlie Kirk

That doesn't invalidate my point.
Not if your point was that people keep stats on violence that are specific to guns.

But yours doesn't invalidate snek's point, which is that the crime is depriving people of bodily autonomy and control over their property.

That is the essence of crime which made the West different, legally.

The Western legal tradition waters have been severely muddied, over the last century and a half and especially probably the last 50 years. That marks the end to the hard limit on politicians printing to pay for their promises i.e. Aug 1971. That and the collectivization of individual rights e.g. the introduction of the UDHR.

Crime is categorised for statistical purposes. Fact. Violent crime is categorised for the same reason. It can be refined by type of gun, age of perps, gender, etc if resources permit it.

Not the post I responded to.

Why are you repeating yourself, when I already agreed that stats are compiled?

In the post you responded to he said there's no such thing as gun violence, there is just violence.

When he says "there's no such as thing as," it appears that you took that literally.

What do you mean by "stats are compiled"? Am I missing something?
Crime stats are compiled.

I said it earleir, I'll say it again... we agree that stats are compiled.

I'm pretty sure Snek would not deny that they are compiled. But he was making a different point which would go over your head if you took him literally when said there is no such thing as gun violence.

Did you take him literally when he said that?

No one challenged that, nor dismissed it. It's not even a point of contention.

So, explain what he meant by "there's no such thing as gun violence" since it wasn't literal?
Did you take him literally when he said that?
Yes, I did. I wasn't aware there's a different meaning to it. Mind explaining?

The emphasis on gun violence is on guns, not on violence per se.

There has been a concerted effort to undermine the 2nd amendment. If the USA loses the 2nd amendment authoritarians outside the US will change their behavior. Of that I'm certain.

This is the effect that the US 2nd amendment has across the entire world, not just the united states.

People don't realise how much safer they are when it is acknowledged and accepted that individuals should have the right to bear arms due to the nature of the State.

No. "Gun violence" represents categorical data. Categorical data is useful in determination of resource allocation or policy proposals.

Gun regulation ≠ gun prohibition. Right now, anyone can acquire any type of gun, irrespective of their maturity or mental readiness to own one.

It's weird how empirical data doesn't support your conclusion on being safer when you can bear arms.
