Ok... don't know for sure how.. but I killed my Win7 X64 (RTM) dead

The last things I did was uninstall Avast (free ed) installed Zone Alarm Internet Security (the latest Win7 compatible ver) and then did my MS updates. Now everything had been running super silky smooth for ages....

Then nothing responds, network connectivity dissapeared (even the physical adapter in network settings). Programs wont complete loading (they just hang there semi loaded)... eish, Even trying to get into system properties intermittantly hangs. Tried to do a system restore, didnt help one bit. So there, somehow I managed to kill Win7 (worse than I have had with Vista or XP!).

4 Hours of backing up, reloaded the damn thing... Stuff Zone Alarm and MS updates! hmmmm me wonders now... what if this Win7 is not going to be as "fantastic" as we all think  Anyone else been as good as me in destroying it?

Zone Alarm has also killed several other installations for me. That's why I stopped using it despite having paid for it.

Sounds to me like zone alarm killed your pc, when i installed eset security i had no network at all. Almost reloaded but then i thought let me uninstalled eset first and then it came right.

I did uninstall ZoneAlarm before trying to do the system restore, that also did not help! Should have just stuck with the Avas free, was working just fine! Unfortunately I have always liked Zone Alarm (works flawlessly in XP and Vista). I rate it in the top 3 of all AV products. Well I did :p

Might just be an isolated incident, load windows 7 run all the updates and try it again.

Maybe something just went wrong.

I might, only 54mb worth of MS updates...

Anyone know if evenbalance (aka punkbuster) have updated their cr@p for win7 yet? Particularly for Crysis and Crysis Wars.

Each game has its own build of PB, try lan network Crysis on Win 7.. does not work. COD4 and 5 work fine. Its a known issue....

I like Win7, 64bit takes a little more effort to make sure everything works. But hey, I liked Vista, neva gave me any shyte. XP seems to be more stable these days since SP3. But Win7 is very nice. Allthough they did make networking a little more complicated for the average joe. I have to change registry settings so that my mVix can log into Win7. But at least I know how to do it!
