So...

A few months ago I saw the Nokia Lumia 630. I reasoned, since I had the original Samsung Omnia 7, that I would give it a shot and see how Windows Phone has progressed in the pretty much 4, 5 years since then...

Note that I had a Galaxy S4 at this stage (gave it away...).

Long story short, I just upgraded big-time to the Galaxy A5. Compared to the Nokia, this is a flagship. Android is soooooo much better at pretty much everything a phone can do. Fluid, loads of stock functionality (and I'm not talking about Touchwiz bloatware, which isn't nearly as bad as in the past, but basic things like a freaking timer app), and you feel so much more in control and aware of the phone's functions.

The A5 is beautifully made and android is so feature-rich compared to the Windows Phone. Add to that the crappy performance of e.g Whatsapp... You don't realize how horrible it is until you switch.

Basically what I wanted to say is that I will not miss WP at all, and may it rest in strife. It's a horrible, frustrating OS compared to Android. Don't get me started on details.

(FYI this is my opinion...)

So you're comparing a 5k phone to a 2k phone...
Vanilla android or GTFO.

Which is why I compared the OS's. And they use pretty much the same performance-related hardware.
I laugh when I think about you Samsung sheep, you easily could of got an LG or Sony for cheaper and same if not better experience but you're happy to paid more for over priced hardware.

I had a 930 and have an A5. Windows Phone really isn't as bad as you say... It's quite good. But you've compared it using a low range device...

Jeez. Do you people even read? :erm: There is basically no difference in an OS between flagships and lower end to mid-range devices. Even though the devices I compared coincidentally run the pretty much the same chipset (no lag in both).

And Sony hardware quality control is bad, ask any of the people with broken Z3 glass panels. I have a friend with a LG and he is having endless problems with it, so why should I buy phones I find ugly and unreliable? My sister and her in-laws all use Sony, so I have played around with them extensively and enough to not want to spend my money on a glass phone with slow update cycles and bad warranty support.

I laugh when I think of you people who bash others based on their choices.

I have a Samsung XCover 2 (cheapie Android) and a Lumia 920. Compared to the 920 the XCover is simply horrible. But, I'm comparing low-end to high-end here, which is unfair to Android.

Functionality wise, I can see the appeal of Android. It is feature-rich, you can customize it to your heart's delight, and it allows the developer access to parts of the hardware that both MS and Apple absolutely refuse (i.e. switching on/off the Wifi via a 3d party app).

But, ultimately I prefer WP. It is simple and clean. I actually like the UI, and I'm not really interested in customization of my phone. My only gripe is the limited functionality of NFC.

Posted from my Android Tablet...because my WP is charging

Great opinion. When I see stuff like Office Lens coming out a year behind GDrive I just smile.
