Hi there,

When roaming in Mauritius on one of their networks with an E220 Vodalite card it will not connect.

It picks up their network and shows there is 3G signal. While connecting it shows at the bottom right that it is Opening Port, Port Opened, Authenticating etc... then it pops up with an error saying, "The specific port is not connected" and does not make the connection.

As far as I know roaming is enabled. Of the four users there, two have this problem (1 E220 and 1 E620). The other two people connect fine on their E220 cards.

What does this error mean exactly? Why is the port not connected? Could it be that roaming was not set up properly?

Probably best to call 155 on behalf of those 2 users, and see if 155 can figure out why it isn't working for those 2 users.

Thanks ic :)

My only problem is I don't have account details for the users in order for Vodacom to troubleshoot. I would assume all paperwork is locked up somewhere here and no-one can get to them while the people are away.

I will take a chance and phone Vodacom just to see if they can tell me what the error means and what steps they can take.

Mauritius Roaming

When i was in Mauritius i had to change the APN to internet3g instead of just internet as here in SA. Don't know if that would help but try it.

They suggested that Burny1 :) thanks we tried but unfortunately it did not help.

It turns out roaming is not enabled. I had to really fish around for SIM card and account details and now I have opened up a can of worms.

International roaming was requested for everyone and was stated on the request forms apparently. Now my manager is not impressed and has asked Vodacom to go over everyone's account and make sure it is done asap.

Thanks all.
