Roaming With GPRS/3G

Can anyone assist with the settings for GPRS when roaming? We have tried using the normal *99# but this is not working. This was the case in Singapore and now in Nairobi. The MTN helpdesk can not assist.

I don't know anything about MTN but with Vodacom the average 3G/GPRS roaming data charge is R100 per meg!!! So when I'm roaming I stay the hell away from using it.
