Johannesburg - Six men and a woman were arrested in Crossroads near Cape Town on Wednesday for attempted murder and possession of an illegal firearm, Western Cape police said.
"The suspects tried to rob firearms from security guards who were escorting a bread delivery truck during which an exchange of gunfire ensued," said Constable Noloyiso Rwexana.
Police arrested the suspects after their silver Golf GTI collided with a police vehicle while they were fleeing the scene.
A revolver was recovered from the car.
The suspects, aged between 18 and 28, would appear in the Athlone Magistrate's Court on Monday.
