My PC and Xbox run off the same LCD screen.

It works fine on both, but when I switch my tumble dryer on the screen goes black every 5 seconds on the Xbox, but not the PC.

Tested this on a regular TV, and the same doesn't happen.

I lol'd.

Awaiting a guru response as I don't know whether my tumble dryer is slowly killing my Xbox... haha.

They aren't in the same room, so they don't share the same wall socket. I am not an electrician, so I don't know if that makes sense. I can confirm that this happened in my previous home too. Just started pissing me off as the missus wants to use tumble dryer and I am very close to prestige again.

The thing is, it doesn't happen on a regular TV... I don't know.

How are you connecting the PC and Xbox to your monitor? Connection to the television?

Think because of the heating element in the tumble dryer as well as the motor, it is drawing a lot of power from your mains?

Like a lawnmower etc when it is turned on, initially dims our lights

Thats the only explanation. SO the missus WILL win this fight? Is that what we are saying? No Xbox until the laundry is done... no quickfix...

Lol I even tried a surge protector for both the dryer and the Xbox... for lack of knowledge of electrical circuits.

PC = DVI

Xbox = VGA

Screen has 2 inputs.
I think the connection problem is because your setup is as follows:
xbox to tumble dryer. Then Tumble dryer to LCD. So when tumble dryer gets turned on, it cuts the connection to the xbox. You laanie people need to stop buying such high tech equipment. ROFL

Seems to work fine when the xbox is connected to the TV though.

get a little ups for your xbox / LCD... NOT for a normal TV tho, CRT's draw big time.

Try swapping the PC and XBox (VGA - PC; DVI - XBox). Might be that the tumble dryer is pulsing its current draw every 5 seconds and is inducing a signal on the VGA cable.
