Hiya! So I've decided to abandon my Lock & make a Rogue... I'm trying to find a levelling build for my lil Rogue & so far have only managed to find out that I need to go Combat spec...

I was wondering if any of you kind forumites might be able to steer me towards a decent levelling build or know of a site where I can find one.

I cant browse the official forums so looking there is out of the question. :(

Oooh can any Rogues give me any tips on combos etc. please?

Thanks!

Call me stupid :)

I lvl'd in Sub spec till lvl 60. Was great fun, most of the quests you can ninja what you need instead of having to kill everyone around. Improved Stealth is awesome for some quests.

I did a Respec to Combat at lvl 61 because my DPS in the Outlands instances sucked. I had huge burst damage and couldn't keep aggro of me. Now it's all fun ;)

Combat Swords is the best build i have been on. check out www.wowwiki.com do a search for rogue builds, they have loads of builds.

Currently I'm on 19/42/00 - Swords and I will agree 100%. I played so stupid till lvl 70. I only know my class now and will only benefit if I reroll another rogue again :D. That is what sucks about wow :D

I finally got my new Rogue to 70 last night.
I leveled as Combat Maces till I hit Outland and then respec'd to Combat Swords as the initial weapons you get are limited to Swords or Daggers and there are very few Melee Mace drops in the pre-70 instances.

Thanks to the Blind and Sap changes you don't really need to spec Sub to ninja kill guys.

I'll be staying Combat Swords as I've a more PvE focus.

I'm using a 16/45/0 Combat Swords build because Riposte is just Win for leveling. Once I'm raiding I'll see how it goes but will most likely move to the more traditional 19/42/0 as Riposte should become less useful.

Grats on 70! Thanks for your advice. I wasnt sure what weapons to use, but I think I'm getting the hang of things. Nice build btw!

Now that sounds like fun. I wouldnt mind Imp Stealth for some major ganking around STV... I think I may go your route now. Spose I'll have to play around and see.

:D
pvp your ass off so you can get the mh and oh swords awesome swords only 1 thing you cant see mongoose on them :( Gladiator's Quickblade for Oh and Gladiator's Slicer for MH

best rogue site by far http://shadowpanther.home.comcast.net/~shadowpanther/ been using them for a while now.

I was just wondering, are you the same Barfish that used to be on MiRC back in 2004?

Yeah I plan on just PvPing with my rogue, basically semi twinking at every "9th" level & enjoying the bg's whilst I level. Those swords are awesome. I was thinking of going the Mace route tho...

My biggest dilema is creating a char on my existing server where I have the Gold to max him out or going over to TH.

It's very nice, but you need Daggers to have it work 100% in your favour.
Ambush + Backstab is seriously IMBA !

just a word of advice, choose your weapons of choice now. I first went daggers, now I have 3 epic daggers just sitting in my bank. The best weapons by far for a rogue wanting to do high dps is swords and maces.

I'm stuck there right now.

I have the S1 Swords for PvE. But I want the Daggers for PvP.... Another weakend of grinding honor I guess :(

Why go daggers? Combat Swords is the highest DPS build at the mo.

The problem i picked up with Swords is, Yes it has the higest constant DPS with long fights.

However

In PvP it can be a pain, where you need very high burst damage.

Shadowstep + Ambush crit = 4k damage plus one hit. Backstab is another 3k.

That is 7k damage in just 2 hits, but then it eases out to low DPS. In PvP vs a clothy = 2hit kill if Ambush crits :) Swords on a combat spec only crits between 1k - 2k damage. But you have the stun lock effect which you don't have if you use Ambush

Unfortunately that reasoning is flawed.

If you're opening with Ambush then your target isn't stunned and with our latency you're going to struggle to stay behind people to Backstab.
Not to mention the fact that after an Ambush opener you won't have enough energy to Backstab (60 Energy! WTF)

Swords have always been a better choice for us because of latency. If you're going to PvP a lot maybe go for a Hemo Swords build.
