Having one, I can tell you they are a hell of a lot of fun at max level. I hate leveling this class though...
1-60: Go combat swith swords/maces/fists, use AR/BF/Evasion as much as possible to boost killing many mobs
60: Respec mutilate and start using daggers, unless you like AR/BF/Evasion on multiple mobs then you can stay combat, but you will take A LOT of damage in outland+

Coincidently I played my Rogue Yesterday for the first time in prob a year 
It's level 70 and I was waiting to max out Enchanting before I level him so I don't waste on the Disenchants in NR. Since I last played my Rogue I have level'd a Shaman, Warlock and Paladin. Getting back on my Rogue just made me fall in love with it all over again.
Don't worry, the worse part of leveling a rogue is 1-10 (No Dual wield) After that is just gets better and better. Yes you will die alot but the same goes with other classes. You will also be able to ninja lots of quests without even killing one mob.
I love that they fixed Rogue DPS now... and this will be my new level 80
(I just don't get time to play wow now with the twins

Yeah I must admit, I miss the stealth and snatch quest item strats from the rogue. The paladin I am leveling though is just plain bruteforce. I have never done elite quests before solo like I do with this class. It really is the ultimate class, tank spank and heal yourself.
But, not to derail. I will probably keep a rogue as my main always, purely because of the fun factor. Only problem is, there is not much to do on it right now and thats why I play some alts.

I have quit WoW but I am considering lvling up one last character and just doing PvP.
I have read all the problems regarding Rogues and latency and I just do not care. I really want to try out a rogue ... but not just any rogue, a gnome rogue on an horde infested, PvP server!
Failing that, a rogue on any server will do!

Rogues are fantastic in PvP - a bit squishy but still excellent. For example I have probably (and at most) a 10% chance of casting Chains of Ice on an "evasion"ing rogue :/

Rogue is also my main. Druid was main for 2 years, but with a rogue you can really pwn 
Most enjoyable. My guild has pretty much dissolved, and I was just doing dailies, argent tourney etc.
So now I've rolled hord to see life on the other side. It's actually quite fun and I find myself playing my hordie almost exclusively atm.
But as said above, as a rogue you can stealth a lot of quests and save time.
