Roku and Netflix SA

I'm about to order a Roku 2 4210R (import from US via Raru). Are there any issues with Netflix ZA?

I suppose I will also require a US to UK power converter or do I need a step-down adapter for the Roku 2?

One last question. Is the Roku box much faster than the Roku stick. ie is it worth paying the extra R500 odd?

1. It works great with all Netflix accounts.
2. No need with the stick if you have a USB port open on your TV.
3. The stick will be slower but I don't have any problems or getting frustrated with the speed.

OK thanks. I have gone for the Roku 2 since I want to use ethernet.
The 2015 Roku 2 uses the same adapter as the Roku 3 so now I just need to find out if I need a step-down adapter.

I doubt it, the Roku 3 works on 110 and 220 volts. You just need a flat 2 pin to round 2 pin adapter.

Many hardware stores sell those for R20.

Mine is labelled for 120V only but it does work. Google the part number if you really want to be sure, or just plug it in

Whatever you do, don't use one of those crap adapters that don't "hold" the plug properly. Mine was easy to half knock out of the adapter and it popped the other day.

It depends on the adapter. The one that came with my Roku 3 was a generic one which is just Roku branded - the specs for the model found online indicate it was 110-240 but on the sticker it says only up to 120.

Safest thing to do would be to just get an adapter locally with the same output.

Difficult to be sure, the Roku 3 one also only says 120v.

Plug it in without the Roku and measure the voltage, should be about 13 volts.

If it is then you can plug it into the Roku.

If it is only 120v then it may go up in smoke, but that wouldn't matter as you couldn't use it anyway.

I don't have that particular model, but all my other Roku devices can definitely handle 220V.

If you want to be ultra-safe get yourself a cheap step-down voltage converter.

Mine says 120V and I have been using it for the past 2 years.

All set up and using a step down adapter. Will keep the original as a back up.
