Hi Everyone

I'm looking into getting an alternative to DSTV and someone mentioned to me that ROKU would be a worthy investment. Now I am in no means even remotely clued up with this type of thing so I hope you guys can help me.

Would I need a smart TV for ROKU to work?
What is the difference between ADSL and DSL ? Would uncapped 4MBPS be adequate to stream in Hd? Which is the best provider for this?
I have 2 tvs I want to hook up would I need to buy 2 Rokus? or is there a dual view function/adaptor?
Am I correct in assuming that ROKU works via wifi?

Help would definitely be appreciated:) as I said I'm clueless but tired of paying for reruns on DSTV.

Thank you

No, one of the main reasons for getting a media player like a Roku is because you don't have a smart TV.

Nothing.

Depends on the source. For Youtube yes, for other services it will depend on a lot of factors.

Yes, you would need two devices.

Depends on the model you purchase. The Roku 3 has both wifi and gigabit wired connection options.

Thanks Dr Zoidberg

would 4 mpbs be okay for binge watching series and movies?

Yes. 4Mbps is just fine speed-wise. Are you on an uncapped package though? Streaming uses a lot of data, so your results may vary depending on which ISP and package you're using.

I don't have a router ,service provider or any packages yet so ill be looking into uncapped when I shop around :) I'm literally starting from scratch.

For the best performance and hassle free viewing I highly recommend the capped accounts from Web Africa or Crystal Web.

For me, the IS backbone has been the best for streaming and pretty much everything else. This leaves you with either WA or CW, and given CW's recent 1st place, I'd pick them.

Edit: Get their premium uncapped

2MB works fine for me but yes definitely uncapped
