Been trying to search for a straight answer, but coming up short.

Is it possible to stream prime video on a Roku (Premiere) without resorting to using a US VPN. I've got a prime video subscription that I assume is the South African version since I didn't do anything fancy.

It's not the best quality and annoying and having to chromecast it from a browser tab.

Hi the Roku amazon prime video app hardcodes region of the app per your roku account. If you installed a US roku account it will only show you titles from US region and won’t play anything as it picks up your IP address is not in US. Unfortunately the Roku rest of the world account does not have prime video available .

Thanks for this, was also wondering. My Roku streaming stick is getting a bit long in the tooth (5 years) and very frustratingly slow. Might buy a replacement soon, so think I'll steer clear of Roku this time. Maybe opt for the Mi Box or Fire stick.

As I understand, even the fire stick can't play prime video (without a US account & VPN).

The Roku Express is great value in terms of a Stick replacement.

I use a DNS service so I've never come across this problem. Sure it cost a few $ but it's worth it. Like Netflix, the US Prime library is vastly superior to the SA version.
