Load Plex. Roku is a brilliant device. There is also the free Roku channel you can load.

What shows - what is it you want to watch, might help if we know what your problem is.

When you do the initital setup of the Roku just make sure you set it up whilst running a VPN, connected to America while registering the device, this way it will load all the relevant channels for the US.
If you run it as per normal it will only load apps available for the South african market (which is highly restricted).
also when I registered mine I just went onto fakeaddressgenerator.com and generated details which are compatible and correct to use on the registration form for Roku.
you will also need a dns proxy service or VPN (I use smartdnsproxy as I find that with VPN you get quite bad lag and stutter), with the Roku unfortunately you cannot load the dns proxy (if you planning on using a dns proxy) on your device itself and so you have to change your dns settings on your actual router as well as if you want to watch netflix U.S you have to reroute the 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 dns's (Roku automatically uses google's dns) through your dns proxy server (the instructions to do this are all on the smartdnsproxy website
The Roku is a brilliant device and if you get it setup correctly is awesome. I love my roku and I currently have Netflix US, Hulu, CBS, Amazon and Showtime as my main subscription services. there are plenty more to choose from.
You also get some free channels (with adverts).
