Rolling blackout risk 'very high' - Eskom

Something tell me we can expect another 30% rise in Electricity cost soon!

“Summer is always a time when we do maintenance and take advantage of lower demand. The maintenance is more this year than previous years as we are tackling a backlog.

“We are experiencing quite a lot of unplanned maintenance. We are not getting performance from our generating plants. There are also quite a lot of technical problems which are cutting supply further.

How many billions profit did the declare again recently? Now we know why.

Eskom boss not ashamed of bonus

Cape Town - Eskom chief executive Brian Dames has said he is not ashamed of the R2.1m bonus he received last year.

Responding to a question about it at an Eskom presentation on essential maintenance work which could impact power supply in coming months, he said he did not think he needed to feel guilty about the bonus.

Bonuses such as these are to be expected, since Eskom is the country’s biggest company and has to ensure that the country’s lights are kept on. The bonuses are moreover less than 1% of those paid to top management in the private sector, he said.

Eskom’s executive directors are keenly aware of the situation in the country and of the remuneration gap between top executives and workers. Dames explained that the directors were also very aware of their performance targets in keeping the lights burning while bringing about energy efficiency.

You lied. Pay back those bonusses.

KAK!

Eskom can bite me. I will not change my habits in the slightest to accomodate their incompetence.

Blackouts in Botswana and Namabia and the sorounding SADC region lately...No excuse for Africa not to have enough electricity, this is sad.

Eskom...the only company in South Africa that places adverts to actively discourage you from buying their product. How crazy is that?

And even crazier: they complain about making less money afterwards :wtf:
