ROMs, kitchens and Wildfires

OK - they said I must root so I did. Nerve-wracking to say the least. I had to download one app to my Mac and launch it. Then I had to click OK. Scary stuff, not because it fails but because it has too many disclaimers and warnings. Moving on, after the rooting I started looking for Froyo. Installed the SUnAaBh_v1 one. It was not to my liking. So, then I installed the WildPuzzle one. Its nice but I still have the following:

* App Sharing: does anyone really tell all their friends about an app? My chinas that are on an Android phone can do this all by themselves.
* Footprints, Friend Stream, Facebook stuff, Twitter stuff, all that: I am into real-life interfacing and these things are meaningless to me.
* Stocks: I am way too poor to afford any stocks

So I wanna ditch all this stuff and be as vanilla as possible. I am led to believe that kitchens are the way to go to cook your own ROM. Anyone have any experience of these? Online recommendations or offline VMs - which is better?
 
Just get sunaabh, modaco or wildpuzzle and delete what you don't want. You can use this list to verify what can be deleted although it is for the desire, it should still be relevant - http://www.iinga.net/desire/update/iuz.html & http://leedroid.protogenlabs.com/wiki/guidelines-for-safe-removal-of-included-apps-apks

Be careful not to delete anything required though. In addition, deleting any of the apps from the system folder will not create more free space for apps as apps are installed to a different partition. Also, for some apps like Stocks etc. there are two files to delete, the app itself and the related widget.

Lastly, the best option maybe to install any ROM, then install Titanium Backup and just uninstall the apps you do not like. It will uninstall system apps too like Stocks and Friendstream.

I never realised Titanium could do this - despite just buying the pro version. Hey, thanks for that much appreciated. :)
