So with some of the renovations we gonna do the garage windows will be closed up. We have our 8kw inverter and hubbles in the garage. The roof is insulated but I'm toying with installing a tornado extractor. Anyone have one? Would you recommend it? How much did it and installation cost thanks!

I'm also interested. I imagine they can be noisy once the bearings have done a bit of work.

Mmm havent though of that but the garage is away from the on the other side of the house and I think our neighbor has some too that I havent heard before

I put one of these in

Was on special. Runs on bearings and smooth as. Definitely makes the house cooler. Pity they done have a slide gate for winter. Needs a slight breeze to turn.

Only regret is not getting another 2..

Good to know. Do you already have roof insulation though?

Do you have a pic of that vent?

I guess I would put the vent somewhere like here in the ceiling?

The big 2 are Whirley Bird and Tornado by Turbo vent.

The Tornado seems to be better.

They cost about R1500 depending on the size you buy.

You can pay anything from R1000 to R1800 to have it fitted (roughly).

Must be as close to the highest point as possible and ideally in the center of the area to be vented.

Also keep in mind the prevaling wind direction in your area. A neighbour of ours had one installed in a spot on his roof where the wind never catches it. It never turned and was completely ineffective because the location was shielded from any wind. He end up having to get it moved to position further along the roof which ended up not in the centre of the room.
