Rooter problems in the bush

Tried the search option but did not quite get an answer I'm looking for while on limited internet access.

I'm on a 20gig Telkom data package which included a Huawei B315 rooter which works 100% at my home. When trying to upload my photos in Kruger Park, it gives me a list of possible networks which are "forbidden". I'm currently using a Telkom sim card with data and it works fine. Why doesn't it want to work in the rooter?

The router probably doesn't support the right bands or all the bands for telkom mobile.

Because in all likelihood you are have a Telkom network only sim (like my 10GB+10GB Telkom package). It doesn't roam on MTN like the Telkom SmartInternet package or the normal data bundles. Telkom probably doesn't have towers where you are in Kruger. Any more questions?

Are you saying that the Telkom SmartInternet package will roam outside the Telkom network? I've been trying to find out. Thanks

Yes, in the past it was even differentiated on the Telkom website between All Networks (as they called it) and Telkom Only, but they did away with those Telkom only data bundles.

You will have to set your device to allow roaming and then it will use MTN when the Telkom network is not available.
